AN A & L OF A

CLOSE ONE!

Wilson’s Wonders Make History But Brave Lions Push Them All the Way

The FOURTH Eurofives Autumn Cup ended in the most dramatic of fashions.

For the first time in the history of Eurofives, a penalty shoot-out decided the destination of the silverware.

And while there was delight for the Merseyside Marvels of Alliance & Leicester, there was disappointment for the young 3 Lions team from Princes Risborough who put on an excellent example of tournament play on their first appearance in Amsterdam.

The victory for A& L secured an historic third consecutive title for Paul Wilson’s side and the skipper was understandably very proud. He commented: “We maybe got a little complacent in the final but it was the trophy and the 3rd in a row we were after at the end of the day, and we managed it. So all's well that ends well.”

There were no real losers after an enthralling afternoon at the Ookmeer Sporthal.

Besides the outstanding debut of 3 Lions, there was also a commendable performance from the Bure Park Old Boys who ran their near-neighbours close in the local derby. And despite squad problems, local side FS Amsterdam once again showed the silky skills for which they have become renowned.

All in all, another fantastic Oktober-fest of futsal!
