HIGH FLYERS!

Back-to-back Joy for Airbus and Debut Delight for Legal Eagles Shepherd & Wedderburn

This year’s Willow Cup concluded last weekend at Amsterdam’s De Pijp Sportcentrum. The Super Saturday saw two keenly-contested groups played in a great spirit.

In Group A, last year’s winner Airbus defended their title with an excellent victory in the big, high-noon showdown, Ciaran O’Rourke’s goal against the impressive Interserve proving invaluable. Search Tech finished third ahead of brave debutants NCP.

Group B saw another close affair – Glasgow-based Shepherd & Wedderburn coming through to claim the trophy on goal difference from Land Securities. However Selftrade and Merrill Lynch, who defeated the eventual group winners, made sure the excitement continued right until the final whistle.

Saturday’s winners joined the previous week’s trophy-takers RBS Manchester as group champions.

A RIGHT ROYAL DAY!

RBS Manchester Hit the Highs at Van Hogendorp

The Willow Cup kicked off at Amsterdam’s Van Hogendorp Sportcentrum on 8 March. After some tremendous futsal action, it was RBS Private Banking who took the coveted trophy ahead of a sprightly Informa team. However, last year’s winners Carling and Trafigura more than played their part in a hugely enjoyable group.

ABOUT WILLOW

The Willow Foundation is a charity dedicated to improving the quality of life of seriously ill young adults aged 16 to 40 through the provision of special days. It was established by former Arsenal and Scotland star Bob Wilson and his wife Megs in memory of their daughter Anna (below right) who died of cancer aged 31.

"Special days returned the smile to Anna's face at a time when her life had taken a very different path to that of her peers. We knew that if special days worked for her, they would work for others too.

“I know the lads really enjoy the Eurofives weekends as a memorable team-building exercise so I very much hope that you and your company can support this exciting tournament and, by doing so, help create a special day for someone very deserving.”
